Realizing equity through education

Challenge

I had been trying to make Rêve Academy’s marketing more relevant and engaging for some time. One day it hit me: we had to stop being scared to have an opinion. Our content had to take a stance on our constituents’ ability to succeed—even if some people thought it was too political.

Results

I asked, “How do we better evoke our mission?” After talking to students and team members, we decided that content must showcase students as impressive, driven, and growing. It must be positive, hopeful, poignant, and thoughtful. And it must speak to—and with!—the audience members who cared most: parents, community changemakers, and educators. So I developed guidelines, staff training, and a content calendar for our new marketing theme: Equity Through Education. The results was more staff- and student-generated content, and 170% increase in online engagement.
