Rêve Academy had supporters, but we didn’t know what to do with them. To increase our impact, we needed to nurture advocates and make a compelling case for their financial support.
Results
I looked at where we were falling short and accepted research assistance from students at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Then I analyzed past campaigns and tested a number of tactics: segmented emails, peer-to-peer fundraising, matching grants, direct mail, and more. The finishing touch was equipping staff and advocates with messaging that felt true to them, which helped them confidently ask for money. The result? A fundraising strategy that increased public donations over 200% in three years.
